ÁSA L.
ARADÓTTIR

Ása has always been interested in art although she has a scientific background and is a professor at the Agricultural University of Iceland. She attended courses in drawing and painting at the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts, The Mosfellsbær Art School and the Kopavogur Art School. At present she is studying in her spare time for an on-line BA degree at the Open College for Arts in UK. In 2011 Ása discovered the wonders of watercolour under the guidance of Derek Mundell at the Kopavogur Art School. Since then, watercolours have played a large part in her art.
The subjects of Ása‘s art are often related to the nature of her work in ecology. She is especially interested in the interaction of science and art, particularly to draw attention to and improve understanding of nature and the state of the ecosystem. In addition, drawing and painting is important for her own exploration and experience in life.
