BJÖRG ATLA

Björg Atla graduated from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts in 1982. She subsequently taught oil painting for 5 years at Reykjavík Art School. She has held numerous solo exhibitions and taken part in many group exhibitions, details of which can be found on the website Arkiv.is
Björg Atla is a member of FÍM (Society of Icelandic Visual Artists) and SÍM (Association of Icelandic Visual Artists). She was one of the founders of the art society, Gróska in 2010 and has taken part in almost all of the society‘s group exhibitions. She was also one of the founder members of the Icelandic Watercolour Society in 2019 and has taken part in two of the society‘s annual juried exhibitions. Björg Atla is a participant in Saatchi Gallery.
“I, the child, grew up watching my father, the artist and draughtsman, always working, always creating some magic in his art. This gave me great pleasure as did music, ballet and literature.
I, the painter, am fascinated by adventures and the unexpected. I use mostly acrylics and watercolour and my work can be classified as poetic expressionism.”
