DEREK MUNDELL

Derek K Mundell B.Sc., B.A. was born in England in 1951 but subsequently moved to Iceland in 1976 where he has since lived. About thirty years ago he became interested in painting in watercolour and admits to being a lifelong student of this medium. Initially he developed his technique and style in his spare time while working in scientific research and marketing. He benefited from the guidance of a wide variety of masters in this medium both here in Iceland and abroad.
In 2007 Derek took the opportunity to change direction in his career and has been teaching watercolour painting to adults at the Kopavogur School of Arts. He completed a degree in Art History at the University of Iceland in 2011.
In 2019 he established the Watercolour Society of Iceland and has been president from its foundation.
Derek has held nine solo exhibitions and in addition he has taken part in numerous group exhibitions worldwide. His works can be found in private and public collections in Europe and North America.
