Jón Ingi studied art under the guidance of Jóhann Breim, Katrín Breim, Ulrik Hoff (Copenhagen), Ron Ranson (England) and Keith Hornblower (England).

He has held almost 50 solo exhibitions in various galleries in Iceland as well as in Horsens, Denmark and taken part in numerous group exhibitions in the south of Iceland. His paintings can be seen in many homes in Iceland and abroad as well as in the collections of Listasalur Árnesinga and Landsbanki Íslands.
