Ómar has been interested in visual art from a young age. As a boy he attended various art courses and notably received private instruction in drawing, oil and watercolour painting from the artist Bjarni Jónsson. Later he held solo exhibitions and took part in group exhibitions in Iceland. However he did not pursue a career directly in fine art although colour, form and line have always played a large part in his chosen profession. He has worked in graphic design and now runs his own design and print company together with his wife. In his spare time he enjoys painting particularly in watercolour. The speed and excitement offered by watercolour as well as the pursuit of light and the unexpected have always fascinated him. He gets his inspiration from his immediate environment, both professional and natural.
